The term, “Abecedarium,” was first noted at Country Day in 1986 when the kindergarten teacher created a book, complete with drawings, to help her students learn and have fun with the alphabet. When we decided to write a welcoming booklet for parents new to the school, the title, “Abecedarium, a Primer for Beginners,” came to mind.
This directory of the varied activities and opportunities at SCDS is of particular interest to those families who are recent arrivals to the school community, but could even serve as a refresher for current families.
When you select your menu item for Monday that will be your standing order for each Monday for the month. (You can’t order for every-other Monday, for instance.) The school will rotate menu items periodically to offer more variety but will continue with high demand items.
Country Day operates two shuttle routes for students, with stops in El Dorado Hills/Folsom and Davis. The Highway 50 east route stops in El Dorado Hills at Saratoga Way, in Folsom on Lake Forest Way, and on Hazel Avenue at Tributary Lane. For Davis/El Macero students, the stop is at the Nugget Market on Mace Boulevard.
Shuttle services rates are $275 one-way per quarter for the first child, and $200 one-way per quarter for siblings.
Shuttle drivers are certified with a Class B license with passenger endorsement and drug tested.
Every parent with a child enrolled at Country Day is a member of the Parents’ Association (PA). The purpose of the PA is to promote school spirit and provide volunteer support. The activities of the PA are administered by a Parent Board, which holds regular meetings open to all parents. The officers of the Parent Board are elected at the Annual Meeting in the spring of each year.
You don’t have to play the cello to be a fine arts booster. The Arts Boosters group supports visual and performing arts at SCDS by helping with travel arrangements, drama productions, art shows, music performances, awards dinners, and special events.
The Sports Boosters group is a volunteer organization supporting sports programs and athletics here at SCDS. The athletic program is open to students in grades five through 12 and all parents are invited to join the Boosters. The Boosters group helps the athletic department with award events, ticket sales, and transportation, and raises funds from snack bar sales, sponsorships, and membership dues.
