Program Overview
A campus visit brings every aspect of Country Day to life as classroom collaboration, creativity and critical thinking shine.
The Lower School curriculum fosters the holistic development of each student, instilling self-confidence, curiosity, and discipline, while providing a strong foundation in academics, athletics, and the arts. Our skilled educators nurture the potential of every child, prioritizing kindness, honesty, academic growth, empathy, and stewardship. Through our emphasis on diverse and hands-on experiences in small class sizes, our school appreciates each child's uniqueness and encourages their individual expression through writing, speaking, and art. Each grade level builds on the previous for excellence in problem-solving, study skills, goal-setting and collaboration.
All the subject areas we teach are really just the vehicles through which we are building impactful people with generous and compassionate hearts, inquisitive and interested intellects, and healthy and active bodies. We help young people find and use their voices to express their ideas, share their opinions, and thoughtfully and respectfully work with others.
A daily schedule of core subjects in reading, language arts, mathematics, science, and humanities is complemented by enrichment classes in world languages, art, Music & Movement, P.E., and library studies. Experiential learning beyond our classrooms through field trips, community service and trips to the school garden also enhances the curriculum.
