Rashida Lang is a second grade teacher. Rashida’s classroom is one of activity and liveliness. She engages large and small-group classroom educational strategies to their fullest. Motivated, engaged, and happy her students are always prepared to do their best.
She earned a Masters from Teachers College, Columbia University in Elementary Education. New York city provided new insights and experiences that she treasures, including the opportunity to take a year long course under Lucy Calkins, the creator of The Reading and Writing Project. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Liberal Studies – Elementary Education from Humboldt State University.
Before joining Country Day, she taught at The Philadelphia School and in public school in New York City. With several years teaching at private and independent schools, Rashida has trained other teachers to implement the Reading and Writing project into their classrooms.
She has a noted ability to connect with students and create a classroom culture of respect and kindness. Taking the whole child into account and teaching to diverse learners are keys to her teaching style.
