Julie Shanks
Lower School Arts

Faculty & Staff

Julie Shanks teaches fine art to Country Day’s Lower School students in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Her studio curriculum encompasses art from all genres, cultures, and media.  Using each grade level curriculum as a launching pad, Julie strives to make connections for students from art to academics.  Deeper yet, she yearns to reach into the heart of each student to appreciate art as a tool of expression for their emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Julie earned an A.A. in Art from Moorpark College in Southern California, a B.A. in art and a single subject teaching credential from California State University Sacramento.  Before teaching at Country Day she taught pre-school and serves as a teacher’s aide in a high school RSP class.

In her personal time, Julie is a member of the Diamond Springs Art Association and enjoys creating art that reflects and shares her faith and its impact on her personal life.  She has written several art curriculums for Vacation Bible School, and enjoys giving art avenues to others in a variety of ways.
