Sacramento Country Day School

Welcome from the PA

Hello and welcome to the Parents' Association of Sacramento Country Day!

We are so happy you are here. Our central goal is to create a warm and close-knit community for all families, students, and Staffulty at Country Day. We are passionate about creating fun, social and philanthropic events for everyone to enjoy. We represent all of the wonderful parents, guardians, grandparents, step-parents, and other special people who nurture and care for our students.

We invite you to be involved! Please check out the Parents’ Association Resource Board on CavNET. There, you can always find our sign-up sheets and help-wanted postings. Participating with the PA is a great way to make a difference in our students’ lives and build strong connections within our school community. Plus, it is truly a great time!

Together, we can create a community that encourages growth, inclusivity, and unity.

Warmly,

Michelle Christian & Katie Deterding

Katie Deterding, Co-President

This is Katie's third year as an Executive Officer of the Parents Association, serving her second year as Co-President. Katie and her husband John are proud parents of Jack (1st grade), Henry (Kindergarten) and Boomer (golden retriever puppy). Katie was inspired to join the Parents Association immediately after Jack started at Country Day. The warm and welcoming community of both parents and Staffulty was contagious and she wanted to be a part paying it forward. Katie welcomes anyone and everyone to reach out to her with anything that they might be interested in getting involved with. As Pre-K likes to say, "all are welcome"!

Michelle Christian, Co-President

This is Round 2 for Michelle! She was a parent at Country Day years ago, supporting her older children, Jack (a Country Day Lifer, Class of 2019), and Meg who attended Country Day from
Pre-K to 8th grade. Their little sister Paige is starting 2nd grade at Country Day.

Over the years, Michelle has served the Country Day community in many ways, from Room Parent to Board of Trustees’ member. When Michelle isn’t brainstorming the next opportunity to host a Country Day parent social event (1st Grade Moms’ Barbie Bunco Night and Parents’ Night Out at Casablanca were hits last year), she is an employment lawyer by day, loves traveling with her partner and Paige’s dad, Glenn, and enjoys spin classes and running.

The Co-Presidents have overlapping two-year terms and oversee the daily operations of the Country Day Parents’ Association. They manage meetings and agendas, ensuring that all business is conducted according to the Parents' Association's agreements. The Co-Presidents act as primary parent liaisons with various members of the Country Day community.
