Zayne M. '36 Helps Pass New Legislation

Governor Newsom signed SB 68 on October 14, making California the first state in the nation to require restaurants with at least 20 locations to disclose major food allergens on their menus starting in 2026. Country Day 2nd Grader, Zayne M., was very emotionally invested as a student with food allergies. He lent his voice and support when he testified at the Capitol–saying his name, disclosing that he had food allergies, and voicing that he supported the bill at both the Senate and Assembly health committees last spring and this summer.

Zayne and his mother advocated for this to be passed with senators and assembly people, and happily shared that it “turns out grassroots work actually works! And a lot of the credit needs to go to the social/emotional love he’s gotten from everyone at school!”

Great job, Zayne–way to make an impact and work for what you believe in!
