Science in Action: Seventh Graders Advocate for Real-World Change

Science in Action: Seventh Graders Advocate for Real-World Change

Our 7th graders recently researched scientific global issues and local organizations that are worthy of funding and our community support. Before the break, parents and community members took part in a Science Symposium, where the research was presented by students, and then visitors voted to support the issue that best informed them on both the scientific research and the non-profit organization.

Our Country Day Fund will be supporting winners in each class period, and money will be donated to their organizations from Country Day.  In Period 3, it was a tie, so $75 will be donated to the Waterbird Habitat Project (Kitally K.) and the Sacramento Tree Foundation (Isaac W.). In Period 5, National Public Radio (NPR) (Francisco R.) will get a donation of $150. And in Period 6, a donation of $150 will be made to Team Rubicon (Ali L.).

By connecting scientific research with real community needs, our students showed that learning doesn’t stop at understanding a problem; it continues through action and impact.
