Melissa Uroff is Lighting Up Creativity

Melissa Uroff, Country Day’s ceramics teacher, brings a remarkable artistic background to our campus. Recently featured in The Sacramento Bee for her work restoring and creating neon art with her father, Melissa embodies the power of imagination, collaboration, and lifelong learning.

Melissa and her father work side-by-side in their shared studio, bringing new light to vintage neon signs and designing original pieces that glow with character and history. Their art blends tradition and innovation, mixing hand-bent glass, brilliant color, and storytelling. A reminder that art is often a family legacy, and a joyful collaboration.

In our ceramics studio, that same spirit shines. Melissa encourages students to experiment, take risks, and discover their own artistic voice. Her passion for creating, inspires young artists to stretch their creativity in new directions.

Country Day is fortunate to have an artist of such vision and talent guiding our students. Her presence reminds us that art connects generations, tells our stories, and makes our world brighter — one glowing idea at a time.
