From Regional Champions to the World Stage: Baby Blew Soars

At Sacramento’s first-ever KidWind regional event, our six-member Middle School team, “Baby Blew," represented Sacramento Country Day with extraordinary distinction, quite literally blowing away the competition. Baby Blew includes Francisco R., Paras P., Lorie L., Jack R., Nathaniel H., and Leo Z.

In a field of 21 teams and 106 middle school students, Baby Blew earned an exceptional set of honors, including 1st Place in Energy Output, the Presentation Award, and the Green Energy Quiz Award. The team secured first place in energy output by generating an impressive 20.355 joules with their unique traditional taper 6-blade turbine.

Just as exciting, this first-place finish in wind secures Baby Blew a spot at the 2026 World KidWind Challenge, which will take place May 17–20 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Advancing to the world stage is a tremendous accomplishment and a fitting recognition of the team’s hard work and excellence.

"These students represented our school with confidence, intellect, and grace throughout the day. They impressed judges with thoughtful, expert answers and a clear command of their work," shared Coach Francisco Rojas, a Country Day parent.
This achievement reflects not only technical skill and ingenuity but also illustrates what our students can accomplish when curiosity, scholarship, and teamwork come together with purpose. Go Baby Blew, thank you, Coach Rojas, and best of luck at the World Challenge!
