FOCS Career Day

FOCS Career Day

Last week, the Families of Color Sacramento affinity group (FOCS) hosted our 2nd annual Career Fair in the Benvenuti Gymnasium, bringing together a dynamic group of professionals from across industries to engage with our 7th through 12th grade students.

This event is rooted in one of FOCS’ core commitments: expanding students’ sense of possibility by increasing access, representation, and real-world connection. By creating space for students to engage directly with professionals of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, we aim to help them see not only what is possible, but what is possible for them.

Students had the opportunity to move freely between booths, ask questions, and learn about a wide range of career pathways, including medicine, law, technology, public service, education, business, and more. Each presenter shared both their professional journey and the personal experiences that shaped their path, offering students a more holistic understanding of success.

We are deeply grateful to the many community members who volunteered their time and presence to make this experience meaningful. Their willingness to share their stories is what brings this event to life.
