Entrepreneurship Blossoms at Country Day

Entrepreneurship Blossoms at Country Day

We have an exciting new Entrepreneurship elective in the high school that supports the launch of a DECA Chapter here at Country Day. Brian Hemsworth, our new Middle School Math Teacher, is leading this group. He’s a National Board Certified Math Teacher, a Certified Personal Finance Educator, and for the past five years has served as an Entrepreneurial Programs Lead at an independent school in Nevada–that was where he saw firsthand how transformative an Entrepreneurship program & DECA Chapter can be for students and school communities.

You may ask, “What’s DECA?” In short, DECA is the premier career & technical student organization for young people interested in business and entrepreneurship. It allows students to turn their passions into competition—think Shark Tank–style business pitches—while also building connections with like-minded students from across the globe.

Already, our students are brainstorming creative business ideas for campus and worked on their first “pitch” this week to administrators–a custom apparel business, with other exciting concepts also in the works.

Mr. Hemsworth shares, “I can already see the energy and potential this group is bringing to the program!”
