Adventure That Teaches. Experiences That Unite.

Adventure That Teaches. Experiences That Unite.

Last week, our 6th-11th grade students traded their classrooms for hands-on adventures that blend learning and camaraderie.

The Middle School Outdoor Education program offers students a chance to explore the wonders of California! This year, sixth graders explored the Redwood Forest, while seventh graders hiked through the giant trees in Sequoia National Park, and eighth graders snorkeled and kayaked along the Catalina coast. On all three trips, students learned about these unique ecosystems. At the same time, students developed deeper connections with classmates, interacted with faculty in new ways, and built independence and confidence. These trips spark curiosity and a deeper understanding of our environments and forge better bonds for students in every grade level.

In High School, students travel to the shores of Lake Tahoe, the pastures and corrals of a Northern California ranch, and the cultural stage of Ashland, Oregon. Our chaperones, the core 9th grade teachers, intentionally design the 9th grade trip to build a strong sense of community and belonging among our first year students. From planned cooking competitions by suite groups, to structured games and activities throughout the week, to a spectacular high-ropes course, to unstructured play time, this trip pulls all the students together into the single class of 2029. The sophomores deepen their class community by fishing, singing, shooting bows and arrows, hiking, and laughing together in the inspiring setting of Greenhorn Guest Ranch. The juniors, already bonded as a class, turn towards an academic focus by watching world-class productions of plays and novels they study in 11th grade English, this year focusing on Shane and Julius Caesar.

These class trips strengthen connections and create unforgettable opportunities for growth that extend far beyond our campus. Links to photos from all the Class Trips are available on your class pages!
