A Living Lesson in Culture and Connection: Día de los Muertos on Campus

Our campus celebrated Día de los Muertos, a Mexican tradition to honor our loved ones or even a beloved pet that is not with us anymore. Across campus, students and teachers created beautiful ofrendas (altars) adorned with marigolds, candles, and photographs, transforming our spaces into places of reflection and joy. We shared pan de muerto and learned about the meaning behind the symbols that make this celebration so special.

We are grateful to the Haines Family, Maricela ('29) and her mom Briana, who donated calaveras de azúcar (sugar skulls) to the High School for decorating. Winners of the Calaveras contest are going to be announced on Wednesday.

Our Día de los Muertos altar in the Lower School Logia will be there all week to enjoy. By engaging in these traditions, our students not only honor the memories of loved ones but also deepen their understanding of how cultures express universal human experiences like love, loss, and the joy of remembrance through art, ritual, and community.
