Pepa Novell Joins Scholars at UCSC
Dr. Pepa Novell was invited to UC Santa Cruz last weekend to give a talk on Spanish Cultural Studies. Her paper studied how Spanish artist Fernando Sánchez Castillo (Madrid, 1970) transforms Francoism icons into sculptures and installations to invite a new reflection on our recent past. She has been working with this artist for more than 10 years and given conferences both in North America and Europe about him and his work. Dr. Novell was the only High School teacher, representing our school, among Full and Associate Professors from UC and CSU systems.
