“Habit of Helping” History on Campus

The “Habit of Helping” has long been an attitude and institution of Sacramento Country Day, and a term coined in 1989 for the 25th anniversary of the school. Service projects take shape on campus when students, parents or staff show an interest in a cause that gains attention, strong support and often carry on as a tradition for many years. Our annual Turkey Drive began in 2011 when fifth grade students had the idea in their classroom of donating 43 turkeys, but ended the day with 101. That’s the Country Day spirit of giving!

That spirit continues on today through so many great causes that we support and lead as a community. This Season of Giving, look for our annual Turkey Drive benefiting the Sacramento Food Bank, the American Red Cross Blood Drive, the Run to Feed the Hungry Race Team, our Gifts of the Heart Toy Drive, Giving Tuesday support for our very own Country Day Fund, and the ongoing support of our school garden to the River City Food Bank. We encourage your participation and support of the many incredible ways to celebrate generosity this season, and look forward to celebrating this Season of Giving with you and your families.
