Coach Vargo emphasizes resilience and grace under pressure over mere winning, instilling valuable life lessons in his players and setting a positive example for everyone in the program.

A. Dale Lacky Scholarship
The A. Dale Lacky Scholarship Award recognizes the league's top male and female scholar-athletes in the Sac-Joaquin Section of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) for outstanding athletic performance, community service, and academic success across their four years of high school.
Since 2006, 25 Country Day scholar-athletes have earned the A. Dale Lacky Award.
