SCDS Closure Information
School remains closed Friday, November 16

With projected a air quality index for the Arden-Arcade area of more than 200, and no forecasted changes in weather conditions, Sacramento Country Day School has decided to remain closed for a third consecutive day, on Friday, November 16.

When evaluating whether or not to close the school, school officials considered many factors. As a Pre-Kindergarten-12th grade school, the decision was made to prioritize the health and safety of Country Day students.

Country Day faculty and staff are not required to report for duty tomorrow. Essential personnel will be notified by their managers if they need to report to work during the closure. Middle and High School teachers will communicate with students through CavNET by noon on Friday to reschedule any work that was assigned this week. All Run to Feed the Hungry - Team SCDS members will receive an email from the team captain regarding rescheduling packet distribution.

Looking ahead, the current 10-day forecast includes rain, which we are hoping will improve air quality. However, if the AQI continues to be over 200 following break, we will activate our alert system to provide updates to parents.

Despite Thursday’s school closure, Country Day collected a record-breaking 528 turkeys to help local families and fire victims. Thank you to the many teachers, employees, parents and students for their efforts and dedication despite this unprecedented circumstance.

Additional information about this closure was sent to parents at approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday and also has been posted to CavNET.
