Alyxandra Vernon ‘10 Swimming — Vanderbilt

Alyxandra Vernon graduated in 2014 from Vanderbilt University with degrees in English and Psychology. As a swimmer at Vanderbilt, Alyx held the second fastest team time in the 200 fly and 200 IM her junior year. She was on the SEC academic honor roll junior and senior year. 

In addition to her academic honors, Alyx was recognized during her final two years of college for her commitment to community service. She was one of 12 student-athletes named to the SEC Women’s Swimming and Diving Community Service Team, both in 2013 and 2014. This recognition was due to her work with multiple organizations, including $100 Solution. an organization she co-founded whose goal is to educate underprivileged children on the importance of nutrition and exercise.

Following graduation, Alyx joined Teach for America as a middle-school math teacher in Greensboro, Alabama.
