We are currently “being trained” by our new Basset Hound, Riley!

Distinctive Classroom Activity
In my class, we do lots of singing & dancing for various occasions – we sing the “Be a Problem-Solver” song (a Sue Goodwin original) to help a friend make a good choice in solving a silly problem. We also take “brain breaks” if we’re feeling squirmy or we’ve worked hard for a long time.

Favorite SCDS Tradition
The annual Renaissance Faire when I get to wear armor and the feast includes chicken legs, lamb stew, sweet-potato pie, shrewsbury cake, and cider.


Unique Classroom Activity
Popsicle Stick Bridges. Glue and Popsicle sticks that we push to the limit; 300 lbs. occasionally.

Outside School Activity
I’ve been practicing martial arts for almost 30 years.

Our annual toga walk to a local restaurant. We count our steps in Latin: unus, duo, tres, quattuor, quinque, sex, septem, octo, novem, decem…

I like to visit countries that were once a part of the Roman Empire. I’ve been to 25, so far.
